EIGO EIMI

In the Gospel of John, Jesus is recorded referring to himself using a series of analogies which illustrate His person and work. The “I am” statements, as they are called, are legendary in that Jesus was using sacred language reserved for Yahweh, the Lord God of Israel. By saying, “ego eimi”, or “I am”, Jesus was declaring himself equal with God.

These seven statements powerfully capture the supremacy of Jesus over, in, and through all things.
